Every February, the AV industry descends on Barcelona for ISE, and every February a wave of LED announcements follows — most of which will never matter to a Perth boardroom. This year was different: three launches genuinely change the conversation for local businesses. Here’s our integrator’s-eye view.
Absen CL V3: COB grows up
Absen took ISE 2026’s Best Product Award with the CL V3, the new flagship of its COB (chip-on-board) fine-pitch line — and it’s aimed squarely at the spaces our clients care about: corporate lobbies, boardrooms, control rooms and premium retail.
Why COB matters in plain terms: the LEDs are bonded directly onto the board and sealed, rather than mounted as tiny packages. The practical wins are durability (a cleaner’s bump doesn’t kill a pixel), better contrast, and a surface that behaves more like a finished material than fragile electronics. For close-viewing indoor walls — exactly where fingers and furniture live — it’s the technology we now recommend by default.
Worth noting for WA: we’ve already put Absen hardware to work outdoors, including the Shire of Moora’s scoreboard — so this isn’t a brochure brand for us.
Samsung’s 108” The Wall All-in-One: LED without the project
The most quietly practical launch of the show: Samsung introduced a 108-inch version of The Wall All-in-One (the MMF-A) with a split-panel design that installs more like two large LCDs than a traditional LED wall build.
That matters because the historical barrier to boardroom LED wasn’t the panel price — it was the project: structure, framing, calibration, days on site. An all-in-one that arrives as a finished product collapses that overhead. For executive briefing rooms and premium reception walls, this is the form factor we expect to quote most over the next year.
Micro RGB: the next benchmark arrives
Samsung also brought its 130-inch Micro RGB signage (QPHX) to the commercial market — micro-scale RGB LEDs with an AI engine driving colour accuracy that flatters anything you put on it. It’s flagship-priced and unapologetic about it, but it sets the visual benchmark the rest of the market will chase — and for brands whose foyer is their statement, it’s already a legitimate spec.
What we’d actually recommend
- Boardroom or briefing centre: The Wall All-in-One family — LED impact, LCD-simple deployment.
- Lobby, showroom or control room: Absen COB fine-pitch — durability and contrast where people get close.
- Statement walls and venues: size the pitch to the real viewing distance and get the structure engineered — the rules of big LED didn’t change at ISE, and they still decide whether a wall looks seamless or like graph paper.
Thinking about LED this year? Bring us the wall — we’ll bring the pitch chart, the honest numbers, and the engineering that makes it look inevitable.
