01
Background
The Shire of Moora wanted to modernise its community sporting facilities. The existing LED screen had reached the end of its life, and the Shire needed a replacement that would be more reliable and more engaging for local sporting events.
02
The challenge
The old screen had to be decommissioned and the existing supporting structure adapted to take the new one, with new services run to it.
Moora is a regional job managed from Perth, so travel, accommodation and specialist equipment such as boom lifts all had to be planned into the delivery rather than sorted out on the day.
03
The solution
FocusAV supplied and installed an Absen A0621 outdoor LED screen measuring 4480mm × 2240mm at 6.66mm pixel pitch, which gives sharp, readable visuals from across the ground.
The existing structure was modified in partnership with a steel fabrication company so the new screen could use what was already there.
Scoring runs on a complete package — a PC, an iPad controller and a 5G router with Wi-Fi, all linked back to a dedicated head-end equipment rack housed nearby.
04
The outcome
The scoreboard has visibly improved the experience for players and spectators. Performance is reliable, visibility is crisp, and the scoring controls are simple enough that local staff and volunteers can run events themselves.
Collaborating with local contractors kept the regional delivery on track, and the Shire ends up with a display built for durability and long-term value rather than a like-for-like patch.
