How commercial IPTV actually works.
A commercial IPTV system captures every TV source at one central head-end, encodes each into an IP stream, and delivers those streams over the data network your building already has — to screens that are each individually addressable. Five parts do all the work.
The head-end
Every television source in the building lives in one rack: free-to-air tuners locked to Perth's transmitters, Foxtel Business receivers, satellite feeds for remote sites, and media players for your own content. One physical location, every source — which is why fault-finding an IPTV system takes minutes, not days.
Encoders
Encoders convert each source into a clean, efficient IP stream — typically a few megabits per channel. Hardware encoders give broadcast-grade reliability for the channels that matter; the encoding standard (H.264 or H.265) is chosen to match your network capacity and screen fleet, not the other way round.
Middleware
The management layer is what separates commercial IPTV from a pile of streaming boxes. Middleware holds the channel lineup, groups screens into zones, controls what each endpoint can see, schedules in-house channels and gives your team one browser console for the whole estate.
Set-back boxes & smart TV apps
At the screen, the stream is decoded either by a compact set-back box mounted behind the display or by an app running natively on the commercial display itself — Samsung and LG hospitality panels handle this without any extra hardware. Mixed fleets are normal; the middleware treats both the same.
Your existing network
Streams travel as multicast — one copy of each channel serves every screen watching it, so a hundred TVs on the news costs no more bandwidth than one. We isolate TV traffic on its own VLAN with IGMP snooping and QoS, coordinated with your IT team, so it never competes with business data.
The practical upshot: once the head-end exists, television becomes a network service. Adding a screen is a patch lead and a config entry — not a cabling project.

What's the difference between IPTV and MATV?
MATV distributes broadcast TV over dedicated coaxial cabling — simple and reliable for straightforward buildings. IPTV delivers television over your data network, which adds central management, unlimited scale, in-house channels and per-screen control. We install both and will recommend the one that fits your building and budget — sometimes the honest answer is MATV.
Can you use our existing network?
Usually, yes. We assess switch capacity and multicast support first, then coordinate with your IT team so TV streams are isolated from business traffic. Where the network needs work, we tell you exactly what and why before anything is ordered.
Can we run Foxtel and our own content through it?
Yes — free-to-air, Foxtel Business, streaming sources and your own channels (corporate comms, menus, sponsor loops) can all sit in one lineup. We'll also walk you through the licensing side so the system is compliant, not just working.
How many screens can one system drive?
From a dozen screens in an office to many hundreds across a hotel or aged-care campus — IPTV scales by adding endpoints, not by re-cabling. The headend is sized once, properly.

We don't sell residential IPTV subscriptions or streaming channel packages.
