Background
RAAFA engaged Focus AV to modernise four spaces across their facility: the EV Nichols Room, the Training Centre, a Practical Room, and Meeting Room 3.
Each room does a different job — formal meetings, structured training, hands-on sessions, and day-to-day team catch-ups — so each needed a system built around that use rather than one template repeated four times.
02
The challenge
The four rooms brought four sets of constraints.
- The EV Nichols Room had client-supplied conferencing hardware to integrate, and furniture that would change later, so the install had to tolerate a reconfigured room.
- The Training Centre needed a large-format display and Microsoft Teams Room hardware that could actually be serviced — not buried behind a screen where every fault becomes a two-person lift.
- The Practical Room needed connectivity simple enough that anyone can walk in, plug in and present.
- Meeting Room 3 had limited floor access, which made getting a tidy cable run to the table the main problem to solve.
03
The solution
Each room got a system matched to its purpose.
- EV Nichols Room: an 82" display with the client’s own Rally Bar and Tap, plus Focus AV-supplied microphone pods and a Logitech extend kit for BYOD connection.
- Training Centre: a 98" display mounted to elevation, Logitech MTR hardware on pull-out drawers for straightforward servicing, Logitech Tap control, microphones, a Rally Camera and six distributed speakers for even coverage across the room.
- Practical Room: an 85" display with a wall-mounted HDMI connection for quick content sharing.
- Meeting Room 3: a 55" display, Rally Bar Mini, Tap, microphone and extend kit, with cabling run through a floor track and table umbilical for a clean finish.

The outcome
Each room now performs to its purpose. Meetings start faster, hybrid participants are heard clearly rather than through a laptop mic, and the technology is consistent enough that people move between rooms without relearning anything.
The Training Centre is the standout — large-format visuals, distributed audio and a full Teams Room setup make it a far more engaging space to run sessions in, and the pull-out drawer mounting means service work does not require dismantling the room. RAAFA has systems with room to grow rather than a fixed installation.
