Edith Cowan University (ECU) continues to invest in practical improvements that support modern teaching and learning. At the Joondalup campus, several teaching spaces were identified for an AV refresh to better suit day-to-day classes, presentations, and hybrid learning requirements. The goal was to create consistent, reliable rooms that staff could walk into and use with confidence.
The existing systems varied in performance and usability, which made it harder for lecturers to move between rooms without needing to adapt to different setups. Audio clarity and accessibility also needed attention to ensure all students could engage with lesson content equally. ECU required a solution that could be replicated across multiple rooms while aligning with their standard teaching AV specification.
Four teaching spaces were upgraded with identical AV systems, providing a consistent experience for both staff and students. The solution centred around a high-brightness Panasonic projector for clear visuals, paired with a Crestron control platform to simplify room operation. To support inclusive learning, Williams Sound augmented hearing solutions were integrated, ensuring students with hearing needs could clearly follow lectures. Mipro wireless microphones were installed to give lecturers freedom of movement and consistent voice reinforcement throughout the room.
The refreshed rooms now provide a standardised teaching environment across the campus, reducing setup time and minimising technical distractions during classes. Visuals are brighter and more legible, audio is clearer and more evenly distributed, and accessibility has been improved through integrated hearing support. With identical systems in each space, staff can move between rooms knowing they will encounter the same layout and controls every time.
This upgrade enables ECU to run daily teaching sessions more smoothly and efficiently, supporting both in-person and mixed-mode learning. By focusing on consistency, accessibility, and ease of use, the new AV environments help lecturers concentrate on delivering content while giving students a clearer and more engaging learning experience.
